STEPS TO ENROLL

Steps 1 through 6 must be completed prior to the first day of the quarter. Course selection is best the earlier these steps are completed.

Step 1 - Apply for admissions to Highline College online.

You will receive two emails with your Student ID (SID) number and email activation code.
               Activate your MyHighline email account.

Step 2 - Visit Highline's Placement and Testing Center to assess English and Math
course placement (located in building 1)

a.  You must take the ACCUPLACER Reading assessment (minimum score of 80) or bring Smarter Balance
     ELA/Literacy scores (3 or 4).

b.  Minimum math placement is not required for RS eligibility.  Math placement is needed
for college-level math and many science courses.  Take your high school transcript or Smarter
Balance test scores to the Placement and Testing Center for assessment.  The highest placement will save you
time and money.  You may place higher through taking the MyMathTest.

Step 3 - Submit the Running Start Program Application to High School Programs Office (located in Building 6, 2nd floor)

       a.  Current unofficial High School transcript with 2.0 min cumulative GPA (1st semester of 10th grade
must be posted in current transcript)
       b.  ACCUPLACER Reading minimum score of 80, or Smarter Balance ELA score of 3 or 4
       c.  Running Start Program Application
       d.  Running Start Enrollment Verification Form filled-out and signed by you, your high school
            and your parent/guardian.
       e.  For optional fee waiver:  School District free/reduced lunch letter or verification of foster youth
status or Running Start Fee Waiver Application submitted by the first day of the quarter.

Step 4 - Sign-up, attend New Student Orientation and register for classes

Meet other new students, learn about important resources, services and online tools.

Step 5 - Meet with a Running Start Advisor
This is an important point of contact for a successful transition and to confirm your course schedule.

Step 6 -  Pay fees (and tuition is applicable), obtain textbooks and check your
              MyHighline email regularly
You must pay fees, unless you are eligible for free/reduced lunch or are a foster youth (eligible
students must submit their Running Start Fee Waiver Application by the first day of the
quarter for applicable fees and college-level tuition waiver.) If you enroll in credits beyond your
EVF authorization, or enroll in pre-college courses, you will also be responsible for payment of
                 additional tuition and fees.

Step 7 - Attend the College Success Kick-Off on September 21st
